In his design for The Evaders Garden by Chorley Council, John Everiss took his inspiration from his Father Stan Everiss, an RAF evader, who was shot down in 1943. Stan found his way to freedom thanks to the help he received from French citizens, whose bravery John recognises in the design for this garden, which reflects the special bond between helper and evader.
