RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2016

RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2016

The Royal Horticultural Society’s Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, supported by Viking Cruises, is the world’s largest annual flower show!  The Show covers 34 acres of ground, occupying both sides of the Long Water, in the grounds of Hampton Court Palace.

The Floral Marquee is 6,750 square metres in size – big enough to house an FA football pitch!  Here you’ll find an array of award-winning specialist nurseries, selling a diverse range of interesting and exciting plants.  Visitors to the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show will have the opportunity to meet 500 exhibitors, from all over the world, selling plants, garden ornaments, tools, compost, and many other garden related products.

A scarecrow competition was held at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show in 2008, it was such a hit, that scarecrows have been a feature of the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show ever since.  The theme for this year’s scarecrows, which were designed and created by children from infant and primary schools across the South East, is space.  The RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show is a very family orientated event, each paying adult can bring two children under 16 years of age, into the show at no extra charge.

The RHS Hub is designed to bring families and communities together, it features a Village Green, complete with bandstand; there are also food stalls and a themed activity area where you can take part in seed sowing and other activities.

2016 sees the return of the popular Butterfly Dome which is 283 meters squared and features a lush, paradise garden, which houses several thousand tropical butterflies, from about thirty different species, which originate from Indonesia and South America.

The Festival of Roses Marquee is a popular feature of the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, featuring the Rose Of The Year Competition.  The Marquee delights visitors with the beautiful fragrance and colour, of so many special roses together in one space.

The 2016 RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show will feature more garden categories than ever before – showcasing over 40 Show Gardens – more Show Gardens than at any other RHS Flower Show in 2016.  There are many new garden categories at this year’s RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show – City Gardens, Water Gardens, Themed Gardens, Floral Meadows and Market Gardens.  Visitors will find gardening inspiration, whatever their garden style at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.

Here’s a look at the 2016 RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show………

The World Vision Garden designed by John Warland

The World Vision Garden was designed by John Warland and sponsored by World Vision. The RHS judges awarded this Show Garden a Gold Medal, at the RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2016. The World Vision Garden has taken its inspiration from the lives of children around the world. Symbolising the journey of life, each of the undulating waves of turf represent an individual life, each taking a different turn with a different journey. The grass isn’t smooth or level, as we’d expect it to be, as each dip and turn is designed to represent the uncertainties of life, reminding us how unpredictable life is, and how vulnerable children in living in poverty are. Whilst the inclusion of pretty and cheerful daisy flowers, serves to remind visitors of their childhood making daisy chains on the grass, and to act as a reminder to us all, that if we join together we can help children living in fear.
