Taste of Autumn Festival 2016

From Wednesday the 19th October 2016, through until Sunday 23rd October 2016, visitors to RHS Garden Wisley can celebrate the season at the Taste of Autumn 2016 Festival.

There’s so much to see and do at Taste of Autumn 2016, you could take a tour of the orchard, fruit garden, and vegetable garden, or learn more about growing vegetables with members of the National Vegetable Society, where you can also enter a fun competition to guess the weight of the pumpkin, and see other wonderful autumnal vegetables.

At Taste of Autumn 2016, you can taste a variety of different apples, try freshly pressed apple juice, and purchase some very special foods and drinks.

On the National Vegetable Society’s stand at Taste of Autumn, you’ll find our ‘Guess the Weight of the Pumpkin Competition’.  Can you guess how much our pumpkin weighs?

We had 453 entries for our National Vegetable Society Pumpkin Competition 2016, at Taste of Autumn.  The pumpkin actually weighed 40.76Kg, or 89lb 14oz, or 6st 6lb!  There were eight adults and six children, who guessed closest to the actual weight of the pumpkin, and were accordingly chosen as our competition winners.  Both the adults and the children were awarded Garden Vouchers as prizes.

On the NVS stand you’ll also find a variety of different vegetables which you can have your photograph taken with, there are also our wonderful NVS recipes created by our members, together with books to help you learn more about growing vegetables.  You’ll also find Neil’s fabulous runner bean seeds for sale, so if your runner beans weren’t successful in 2016, stock up with Neil’s bean seeds for 2017!  Daphne’s famous vegetable cakes will be for sale on the NVS stand, on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd October 2016.

Apple Tasting

If you’re an apple lover, Taste of Autumn at RHS Garden Wisley is a great place to visit!  You can take a tour of the orchard and Fruit Garden at RHS Garden Wisley, taste freshly pressed apple juices, and try a variety of apples, all of which were grown at RHS Garden Wisley.  RHS experts will be on hand to give advice on growing apples, and other fruit, throughout Taste of Autumn.

Entry to Taste of Autumn at RHS Garden Wisley is included with the normal garden entry fee.  RHS members enjoy free entry to this lovely event.
