I so enjoy using my Felco model No. 12 Compact Deluxe secateurs. Felco is a premium brand of secateurs, I aspired to own a pair of Felco secateurs, for many, many years before I finally got my own pair of secateurs.
My hands are very small, I require a small size of gloves, and even these small sized gloves can at times be a little too large. My hands are not as strong as I would like them to be, so when I purchased my Felco secateurs, I was looking for a pair that would be easy to use, and would maximise the strength that my hands have. Felco model No. 12 Compact Deluxe secateurs are described as being the top of the line Felco secateurs for smaller hands, these secateurs feature a clever rotating handle which amplifies the strength of the cut you make, without straining your hand. This mechanism is very effective, even after quite a number of years of owning my secateurs, I am still grateful for how much easier I find pruning when using my Felco secateurs.
Felco secateurs are beautifully made, function well, and will last you a lifetime, if you look after them. In my opinion, Felco secateurs are very much worth their price tag. Before I was able to buy a pair of Felco secateurs, for many years I made do with countless pairs of cheaper secateurs, I found these cheap secateurs often didn’t last a week, sometimes their life span could even be limited to lasting for just the space of one afternoon. I feel so grateful for my Felco Secateurs, which I have now had for around 10 years, without any problems. A pair of Felco secateurs would make a thoughtful and special, lasting gift for the gardener in your life.
My pair of Felco Model No. 12 Compact Deluxe Secateurs have a wire cutting notch, which allows you to safely cut thin wire, without having to find a second pair of tools, and without risk of damaging the cutting edge of your secateurs. This is very useful, if you’re using wire to train a plant to a wall for example, where you might need to use your secateurs to prune your plant as you train it, and you need to cut your wire to size as you work.
The Felco Model No. 12 Compact Deluxe secateurs also feature a sap grove, this is a useful feature, which prevents the secateur blades from sticking when you’re pruning very sappy plants. The sap grove makes pruning easier and allows you to prune sappy plants without having to keep stopping unnecessarily, this feature makes cleaning your secateurs easier as well. A pair of secateurs with a sap grove saves you time as you’re pruning, as you don’t have to keep stopping to wipe the blades of your secateurs, as the sap is channeled away.
The anvil blade of the Felco No. 12 Compact Deluxe secateurs is made from hardened steel, which allows the user to create a precise cut. These Felco Model No. 12 Compact Deluxe secateurs come with a lifetime guarantee, all parts of the secateurs can be replaced, making repairs easy.
If your favourite gardener already owns a pair of Felco secateurs, you can still treat them at Christmas – Burton McCall offer full servicing for Felco secateurs, replacing any parts, and posting the secateurs back as good as new – a wonderful surprise present!
