This year, Father’s Day will be held on Sunday 16th June 2019.  I hope that this list of special garden events and activities held over the Father’s Day 2019 weekend will help you to enjoy a memorable, happy, and very special weekend with your family and friends. 

Gardens offering free entry to Fathers on Father’s Day 2019:

Here are the gardens and venues that are celebrating Father’s Day 2019 by offering discounts or free entry to fathers.  Each offer varies, so I have listed each Father’s Day offer separately.

The Go-Godalming Association present Music in the Park, on Father’s Day, Sunday 16th June 2019, with the Roffe Swayne Concert.  The Massed Bands of Farnham, Haslemere, and Godalming Operatic Society, will be playing from 3pm until 5pm, at The Bandstand, in the Phillips Memorial Park, which is by the river, in Godalming, Surrey.  This is a free concert.  Bring a picnic and your own garden chairs and relax and enjoy this special afternoon.  In the event of inclement weather, concerts will be held in the adjacent parish church, for more information, please click here.

The World of Beatrix Potter, Bowness on Windermere, Cumbria, The Lake District, LA23 3BX, are offering a free cup of coffee for fathers and their children – just bring your attraction tickets with you to the tea shop.  On Father’s Day, Mr. McGregor will be sowing some cress seeds in the garden; join Mr. McGregor in the glasshouse to take part in this activity – you can take your pot of seeds home with you.  For all the details, please click here.

Friday 14th June 2019 and Saturday 15th June 2019 – The Country Brocante Summer Fair at Parham Park, Pulborough, West Sussex, RH20 4HS.  This Summer Fair opens from 9am until 5pm on Friday, and from 10am until 5pm, on Saturday.  Visitors will find a wide array of items for sale at this event, including hand-made and vintage items.  Gardeners will delight in finding plants for sale, there’s a programme of talks, demonstrations, and workshops, as well as free entry for children under 16.  For all the details including ticket types and prices, please click here.

Saturday 15th June 2019 – Witley Horticultural Society will be running a plant stall at Witley Village Fair, which opens at 12.30pm.  Visitors are instructed to park at Chichester Hall, Petworth Road, Witley, Godalming, Surrey, GU8 5PL, for all the details, please click here.

Saturday 16th June 2019 – Frensham and Dockenfield Horticultural Society Plant Sale at Frensham Fayre, at 1pm, at Hollowdene recreation ground, Shortfield Common Road, Frensham, Farnham, Surrey, GU10 3BJ.

Saturday 15th June 2019 and Sunday 16th June 2019 –Unusual Plant Fair at Gilbert White’s House and Garden, The Wakes, Selborne, Alton, Hampshire, GU34 3JH.  This Unusual Plant Fair opens from 10.30am until 5pm.  Visitors can discover specialist nurseries from across the Southern Counties, selling rare and unusual plants, shrubs, bulbs, trees, and gardening accessories.  Refreshments and home-made cakes will be available.  For all the details, please click here.

Saturday 15th June 2019 and Sunday 16th June 2019 – The Plant Society Show will be held from 11am until 4pm, at RHS Garden Wisley, Woking, Surrey, GU23 6QB.  This is sure to be fabulous day out for plant lovers and gardeners, this summer show features stalls and exhibits from over twenty different Plant Societies, including all your garden favourites, such as delphiniums, clematis, sweet peas, iris, dahlias, alpines, fruit and vegetables, carnivorous plants, bonsai and cactus.  Visitors to this annual Plant Society show can enjoy displays of colourful and unusual plants, and meet friendly experts, who will be giving advice on growing all manner of plants throughout the weekend.  You can take part in free propagation, pruning, and plant care demonstrations and buy unusual plants and seeds.

Sunday 16th June 2019 – Bookham Open Gardens and Plant Sale, Bookham, Surrey, from 10am until 5pm.  There will be a good range of private gardens, including both large and small gardens across Great Bookham and Little Bookham, all opening for this special day to raise money for the upkeep of the Old Barn Hall.  You’ll find plant sales at the Old Barn Hall, Great Bookham, Leatherhead, Surrey, KT23 3QA, at the allotments.  Tickets are £5 in advance, or £6 on the day, for all the details, please click here.

Sunday 16th June 2019 – Limerick Garden Festival opens from 11am to 5pm, at Limerick Milk Market, Limerick, Ireland.  Visitors can peruse over 50 plant, garden and food stalls and purchase plants from specialist plant nurseries and expert growers at this Garden Festival.  There are a programme of speakers to entertain and inform visitors.  For all the details, please click here.

Sunday 16th June 2019 – Rare Plant Fair at Waterperry Gardens, Waterperry, near Wheatley, Oxfordshire, OX33 1JZ, opening from 10am until 4pm.  Visitors will find a number of independent and specialist nurseries at this plant fair.  Entry is £6 per adult, which is a reduction on the usual entry price, and includes entry to the fair and garden, for all the details, please click here.

On Sunday 16th June 2019, Ness Botanic Gardens, Neston Road, Ness, Neston, South Wirral, CH64 4AY, are holding an Alpines for All Plant Fair, from 10am until 3pm.  This event is organised by the Wirral and West Cheshire group of the Alpine Garden Society.  Visitors can admire displays of pretty alpine plants and purchase plants direct from growers and experts.  For all the details, please click here.
