Giving Thanks for Gorgeous Easy-to-Grow Houseplants!

Giving Thanks for Gorgeous Easy-to-Grow Houseplants!

I’m feeling so grateful today.  I’m grateful to the special people and plants that I share my life with.  I relish sharing information about stunning houseplants that are easy to grow and will happily bloom through the autumn and winter months.  This is when the nights are longer, the days are shorter, and we spend more time indoors – when flowering houseplants can brighten up our days and evenings!  If you’re looking for an easy-to-care for houseplant that’s eager to bloom, here are some lovely ideas (simply click on the orange text to see detailed growing guides for each plant).

Thanksgiving Cacti

I took this picture for you today to show you that my Thanksgiving Cacti (Schlumbergera) are flowering earlier this year. Are you growing Thanksgiving Cacti? Make time to ensure these plants receive sufficient water whilst they are in bud and in bloom. I like to give my plants a gentle shower when they start producing flower buds; this rinses away any dust and gives the plants a refreshing drink.

You might have seen this plant before, as I’ve shown you this Thanksgiving cacti (Schlumbergera Pale Pink) in previous years.  I took these pictures to show you my plant today.  This is the earliest my Thanksgiving cacti has come into flower.

I always admire this Schlumbergera’s soft sugar-plum-fairy-pink and ivory coloured flowers; they’re large in size but despite their size, these blooms have a delicate appearance with almost translucent petals that look like a work of art that was crafted from the finest silk by a talented seamstress.

Here’s a closer look at my Schlumbergera (Thanksgiving Cactus) flowers. These pretty blooms resemble silk.

Phalaenopsis ‘Dover’

This is Phalaenopsis ‘Dover’, an absolutely stunning Phalaenopsis. This plant was sent to me by Love Orchids around three years ago.

Phalaenopsis ‘Dover’ is such a gorgeous orchid.  I feel Phalaenopsis ‘Dover’ looks hopelessly glamorous with its stunning, snow-white flowers; they are huge!  Love Orchids sent me this Phalaenopsis ‘Dover’ plant about three years ago.  This is a floriferous orchid that blooms readily.  I love it!

Phalaenopsis ‘Dover’ is a very glamorous Phalaenopsis with huge flowers! Love Orchids sent me this plant about three years ago.

Phalaenopsis ‘Cadillac’

I adore Phalaenopsis ‘Cadillac’! This plant was sent to me by Love Orchids around three years ago.

Phalaenopsis ‘Cadillac’ also has huge flowers.  I just adore these pink flowers’ freckles, they are so pretty!  This is definitely another of my favourite Phalaenopsis hybrids; I would absolutely recommend this elegant orchid.

This is another Phalaenopsis sent to me by Love Orchids.  I’ve also had this plant for around three years – I am pretty sure that this plant was sent to me in a parcel with Phalaenopsis ‘Dover’.

Phalaenopsis ‘Cadillac’ flowers are so elegant. To give you a better idea of their size and majesty, here is a picture of my husband’s hand with the flowers.
