Coastal Gardener Nursery Talk & Open Day

At 11am nursery owner, Gerry Price will give a FREE 30 mins demonstration and/or talk about Sustainable Gardening. The Coastal Gardener Nursery opens from 10am until 4pm every Wednesday and on the first and third Sunday of each month, from April to September. The Coastal Gardener, Fakenham Farm, Eddington Road, St Helens, Isle of Wight, PO33 1XS. The Coastal Gardener Nursery is at Fakenham Farm, St Helens on the Isle of Wight. From the direction of Ryde and Seaview you’ll find us just before you get to St Helens village. From Newport, Sandown or Bembridge you’ll need to go through St Helens village and head towards Nettlestone and Seaview. The farm is the last property on the left as you leave St Helens village or first on the right if approaching from Ryde/Seaview. There’s plenty of parking and wonderful sea views over the nursery. Most of the Coastal Gardener Nursery’s plants are sown and grown within sight of the sea. Seeds are collected and cuttings taken from plants at the nursery. Some seed is bought from specialist suppliers and nurtured to maturity. Seeds are sown in peat-free compost and everything is done with as little environmental impact as possible. Plants are chosen for their tolerance of coastal conditions and their beauty.

Music in the Park in Godalming

The Go-Godalming Association present Music in the Park, on Father’s Day, Sunday 18th June 2023, with the Green Hub Concert. The True Deceivers will be playing from 3pm until 5pm, at The Bandstand, in the Phillips Memorial Park, by the river, in Godalming, Surrey.  This is a free concert.  Bring a picnic and your own garden chairs and relax and enjoy this special afternoon.  In the event of inclement weather, concerts will be held in the adjacent parish church, for more information, please click here.

Cascades Garden Opening

On Friday 16th June 2023Cascades Gardens will be opening from 12 noon until 4pm for the NGS at Cascades Gardens, Clatterway, Bonsall, Matlock, Derbyshire, East Midlands, DE4 2AH. Visit this four acre garden that’s surrounded by woodland, cliffs, a stream, pond, and an old limestone quarry. Inspired by Japanese gardens and Buddhist philosophy, there are secluded garden rooms for relaxation and reflection. Admire this beautiful landscape and garden planted with a wide collection of unusual perennials, conifers, shrubs and trees. There will be a plant stall at this opening. Malvern International Orchid Show

Friday 16th June 2023, Saturday 17th June 2023 and Sunday 18th June 2023 at Three Counties Showground, Malvern, Worcestershire, WR13 6NW.  Gardeners and plant lovers will find a wide range of plants and gardening merchandise to purchase at this busy show.  Orchid lovers can explore the wonders of the International Orchid Show.  There is a Flower Show as well as an array of specialist nurseries and gardening experts on hand to answer questions and give advice.  Twelve orchid nurseries, including overseas nurseries, plus around twenty orchid societies will be exhibiting; for more information and to see a list of exhibitors, please click here.  This large scale show has so much to offer visitors; for all the details and to buy tickets, please click here.  NB: Orchid Society of Great Britain members can purchase reduced priced tickets for £10 per day (usual price £20-£23). Thenford Summer Garden Open Day

Holmlea Garden Opening & Plant Sale

Holmlea Garden Opening & Plant Sale is opening from 12 noon until 5pm on Saturday 17th June 2023 and Sunday 18th June 2023 at Holmlea, Derby Road, Ambergate, Belper, Derbyshire, DE56 2EJ. Directions: on the A6 in Ambergate – between Belper & Matlock. 9m N of Derby, 6m S of Matlock. Easy access from M1 J28. On A6 next to Bridge House Cafe. Additional Parking at Anila Restaurant opposite Hurt Arms. This garden covers 1.5 acres and is constantly evolving. The planning has been undertaken with nature in mind with specific planting for wildlife and areas left for to grow naturally. The garden is managed organically and visitors who keep chickens or ducks or are thinking of doing so may be interested to see how they garden alongside their feathered friends. Roses are a feature in June, late summer perennials and salvias in September. Younger visitors will enjoy meeting the animals – goats, chickens, ducks, and geese. There’s a fun Riverside Walk quiz to identify features and creatures alongside the River Derwent. Earthed Up! will be selling edible plants raised in peat-free compost at this event on Sunday 18th June 2023.

Ivy Croft Garden Opening

Titchmarsh Open Gardens & Plant Sales

Sunday 18th June 2023, from 11am until 4pm Titchmarsh Open Gardens & Plant Sales, Titchmarsh, near Thrapston, Northamptonshire, East Midlands. This is a lovely opportunity to visit the pretty Conservation village of Titchmarsh to explore small, large, established and new, neat and tidy or rambling wildlife gardens and allotments full of fruit, veg and flowers! Refreshments, Flower Festival and Morris Dancing for your entertainment all supported by Alan Titchmarsh who has links with the village for obvious reasons. All proceeds go to STAUNCH – Save Titchmarsh Thrapston and Upper Nene Valley Countryside and Habitats who have amalgamated with the Nene Valley Association with the long term aim of gaining AONB for the Upper Nene Valley. Warndon Court Garden Opening and Plant Sale

On Sunday 18th June 2023Warndon Court Garden will be opening from 12 noon until 4pm for the NGS at Warndon Court, St Nicholas Lane, Worcester, Worcestershire, West Midlands, WR4 0SL. Culland Hall Specialist Plant Fair

Culland Hall Specialist Plant Fair will be held within the grounds of Culland Hall, Brailsford, Derbyshire, East Midlands, DE6 3BW from 10am until 3pm on Sunday 18th June 2023. Entry is £6 (Children Free). Admissions include the plant fair and access to explore the quintessentially British gardens and landscape overlooking parkland. Refreshments and homemade cakes are available too. Funds raised will be donated to The Mid-Derbyshire Association for Mobile Physiotherapy. Visitors can purchase plants expert growers from across the country, including leading Specialist Nurseries and RHS Exhibitors.

Whichford Pottery Open Gardens

Sunday 18th June 2023 – Open Gardens at Whichford Pottery, Whichford, near Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire, CV36 5PG. Jim and Dominique’s much-acclaimed and romantic private garden at the Pottery, together with eight other gardens in Whichford and Ascott, will be open for the National Garden Scheme. Scotland

Willowhill Garden Opening

Saturday 17th June 2023, Sunday 18th June 2023, and Monday 19th June 2023 at Willowhill Garden, Forgan, Newport-on-Tay, Fife, Scotland, DD6 8RA.  Willowhill Garden will be opening from 1pm until 5pm for Scotland’s Gardens Scheme.  There will be a plant sale at this opening; visitors are welcome to bring a picnic. This three-acre garden features a series of mixed borders designed with different vibrant colour combinations. The spectacular mix of roses, herbaceous perennials and annuals planted through the wide borders are a highlight in mid to late summer. A new ‘no dig’ 160-foot border in shades of white, blue, purple and pale yellow was created in 2019/2020. Directions: One-and-a-half miles south of Tay Road Bridge. Claremont House Garden Opening and Plant Sale

Claremont House Garden Opening & Plant Sale, Redmill, West Lothian, Scotland, EH47 0JY.  Claremont House Garden will be opening from 2pm until 5pm on Sunday 18th June 2023 for Scotland’s Garden Scheme.  There will be a plant sale at this opening.  Claremont is an eclectic garden made up of three areas, with various herbaceous borders to the front, some Hostas from the Owners’ collection to the side – in all the garden contains over 150 Hostas.  Visitors can admire their herbaceous borders plus a newly created stumpy. There are three ponds (one very large), a rockery, a dovecot, rose patio, and a few interesting trees, including a grand monkey puzzle. Even though the garden is situated only two minutes from Junction 4 of the M8 it is yet an idyllic peaceful oasis. Directions: Take the M8 and leave at Junction 4 heading for Whitburn. At the first set of traffic lights turn right for Whitburn. After only 100 metres turn first right at a slightly hidden turning with bollards, come straight down, without turning, to the bottom of the hill to Claremont. Duns Open Gardens and Plant Sale

Duns Open Gardens, Volunteer Hall, Langtongate, Duns, Berwickshire, Scotland, TD11 3AF.  Duns Open Gardens and Plant Sale will be held from 12 noon until 5pm for Scotland’s Garden Scheme on Sunday 18th June 2023. Teas/coffees/home-baking available to purchase at the Volunteer Hall where you can also purchase tickets and route maps. Locally grown plants for sale. There are extensive green areas in and around the town offering delightful walks all year round. The gardens are lovingly tended by enthusiastic gardeners, happy to share them with likeminded people. They offer a wonderful variety of size, layout and planting, ensuring that there is something for everyone. Meet other garden lovers and sharing ideas and plans for future garden projects. Directions: Duns is situated on the crossroads of the A6112 and A6105, approximately 14 miles west of Berwick upon Tweed and is easily accessible from the A1 onto the A6112 and from the A68/697 onto the A6105. Dunesslin Garden Opening and Plant Sale

Dunesslin, Dunscore, Scotland, DG2 0UR.  Dunesslin Gardens will be opening from 2pm until 5pm on Sunday 18th June 2023, for Scotland’s Gardens Scheme.  There will be a plant sale at this opening. Set in the hills with wonderful views and borrowed landscapes, the principal garden consists of a series of connecting rooms filled with a great and interesting variety of herbaceous plants, beautifully designed and maintained. There is a substantial rock garden with alpines and unusual plants and a very pretty pond. There is a short walk to three cairns by Andy Goldsworthy, through an evolving woodland garden. Directions: From Dunscore, follow the road to Corsock. Thorntree Garden Opening

On Sunday 18th June 2023, Thorntree Garden, Arnprior, Scotland, FK8 3EY, will be opening from 2pm until 5pm for Scotland’s Garden Scheme. From this garden, visitors can admire panoramic views from Ben Lomond to Doune, watching the Forth meander down the bottom of the valley. For more information, please click here.

Rivaldsgreen House Garden Opening

Rivaldsgreen House Garden, 48 Friars Brae, Linlithgow, West Lothian, Scotland, EH49 6BG.  Rivaldsgreen House Garden will be opening from 2pm until 5pm on Sunday 18th June 2023 for Scotland’s Gardens Scheme. This is a mature two-acre garden with lovely mixed herbaceous, rose, and tree planting. Directions: From the west end of the High Street turn into Preston Road, after crossing the canal turn left into Priory Road and at the T junction turn left down Friars Brae. South East

Big Green Week at Leatherhead Library

From Tuesday 13th June 2023 until Saturday 17th June 2023, Leatherhead Library will also be giving away free sunflower seeds and cress kits while stock lasts during Big Green Week (Tuesday 13th – Saturday 17th June 2023) at Leatherhead Library and room hire, The Mansion, Church Street, Leatherhead, Surrey, KT22 8DP. Butlers Farmhouse Garden Opening

Butlers Farmhouse, Butlers Lane, Herstmonceux, East Sussex, BN27 1QH.  On Thursday 15th June 2023 and Friday 16th June 2023, Butlers Farmhouse’s garden will be opening from 2pm until 5pm for the NGS.  This rural one acre garden surrounds a sixteenth century farmhouse and enjoys views of South Downs. Look out for orchids growing in the meadow in June.  This is quite a quirky garden with surprises round every corner including a rainbow border, small pond, Cornish inspired beach corners, a poison garden, and secret jungle garden.  There will be a plant stall at this opening.  For all the details, please click here.

239A Hook Road Garden Opening & Plant Stall

On Friday 16th June 2023239A Hook Road garden will be opening from 7.30pm until 10pm for the NGS at 239A Hook Road, Chessington, Surrey, KT9 1EQ. Directions: 4m S of Kingston. A3 from London, turn left at Hook underpass onto A243. Garden 300yds on left. Parking opposite in park or on road, no restrictions at night. Buses K4, 71, 465 from Kingston & Surbiton to North Star pub. Patio with raised vegetable bed and garden room. A central path of standard hollies, urns and box balls leads to a water feature at the end of the garden. Rectangular beds with rose covered obelisks form a grid either side of central axis. Enclosed on three sides by sun and shade borders, shrubs and perennials.

Godinton House Gardens

On Friday 16th June 2023Godinton House Gardens will be opening from 1pm until 5pm for the NGS at Godinton House, Godinton Lane, Ashford, Kent, TN23 3BP. Godinton House owns 12 acres of gardens that feature herbaceous borders, a rose garden, a formal lily pond, an intimate Italian garden, and large walled garden with delphiniums, a potager and cut flowers. Open Garden & Plant Sale in Bramley, North Chailey

Open Garden & Plant Sale in Bramley, North Chailey from 2pm until 7pm on Friday 16th June 2023 and Saturday 17th June 2023 at Bramley, Lane End Common, North Chailey, Lewes, West Sussex, BN8 4JH. This rural one acre garden is opening for the NGS. Planting began in 2006 and includes an orchard avenue with wild flowers and long grassed areas and beehives. There is a vegetable garden, numerous formal and informal ornamental flowerbeds and borders. Pashley Manor Gardens’ Rose Week

Pashley Manor Gardens, Ticehurst, near Wadhurst, East Sussex, TN5 7HE, will be celebrating roses every day, from Friday 16th June 2023 to Saturday 24th June 2023.  This is a lovely opportunity to admire Pashley Manor’s rose gardens at their peak; take a stroll along the rose walk and explore the formal rose gardens.  Visitors can join guided rose walks and talks around the garden and enjoy the sight and scent from the old and modern roses that grow alongside foxgloves and herbaceous perennials, in this lovely garden. Holford Manor Garden Opening

On Friday 16th June 2023, Saturday 17th June 2023, and Sunday 18th June 2023, Holford Manor Garden will be opening from 11am until 4pm for the NGS. There will be a plant stall at this garden opening, including plants from the UK’s largest Iris Nursery – Chailey Iris Gardens. Holford Manor Garden was designed and laid out by the current owners. Green Elmbridge, together with Riverhouse Barn Arts Centre, will be hosting the Green Elmbridge Sustainability Fair on Saturday 17th June 2023, from 10am until 4pm at Riverhouse, Manor Road, Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, KT12 2PF. Green Elmbridge’s fair will feature free to attend talks and demonstrations, involving a wide range of speakers and representatives from the local community, including Elmbridge Borough / County Councils, and stalls promoting local green-minded businesses and organisations. Banstead Horticultural Society Early Summer Show

On Saturday 17th June 2023Banstead Horticultural Society will be holding their Early Summer Show from 2pm until 5pm, at Community Hall, Park Road, Banstead, Surrey, SM7 3AJ.  Visitors can purchase low-priced home-made refreshments, plant sales, raffle and members’ prize draw.  Entry is free for Banstead Horticultural Society Members, and £2 for non-members.

Warlingham Fair

On Saturday 17th June 2023, Warlingham Fair will be held from 11am until 4pm at Blanchmans Farm Nature Reserve, just off the B269 Limpsfield Road, in Warlingham, Surrey. Wokingham Horticultural Association Summer Show

On Saturday 17th June 2023Wokingham Horticultural Association’s Summer Show will take place at St Paul’s Parish Rooms, Reading Road, Wokingham, RG41 1EH. This show opens from 2pm with prize giving at 3.45pm. Admission is £2 with children free. The show is open to all; more details can be found here. Sandhill Farm House Garden Opening

On Saturday 17th June 2023 and Sunday 18th June 2023 Sandhill Farm House Garden will be opening from 2pm until 5pm for the NGS at Sandhill Farm House, Nyewood Road, Rogate, Petersfield, Sussex, GU31 5HU. Sandhill Farm House Garden extends to just over an acre; it is divided into two gardens, found on either side of the house. There are many different, contrasting, and inspirational areas within this small space. Look out for the roses, including the China rose Rosa ‘Crimson Bengal’ and Rosa ‘Pierre de Ronsard’, planted by porch door. Saturday 17th June 2023 and Sunday 18th June 2023 – The Plant Society Show will be held from 11am until 4pm, at RHS Garden Wisley, Woking, Surrey, GU23 6QB.  This is sure to be fabulous day out for plant lovers and gardeners, this summer show features stalls and exhibits from over twenty different Plant Societies, including all your garden favourites, such as delphiniums, clematis, sweet peas, iris, dahlias, alpines, fruit and vegetables, carnivorous plants, bonsai and cactus.  Visitors to this annual Plant Society show can enjoy displays of colourful and unusual plants, and meet friendly experts, who will be giving advice on growing all manner of plants throughout the weekend.  You can take part in free propagation, pruning, and plant care demonstrations, and buy unusual plants and seeds. Information for disabled visitors can be found here.

Pear Trees Gardens Opening

On Saturday 17th June 2023 and Sunday 18th June 2023Pear Trees Gardens will be opening from for the NGS at Pear Trees, Elder Street, Wimbish, Saffron Walden, Essex, CB10 2XA. This half acre garden enjoys open views across farmland to Rowney Woods. A wide range of soft fruit and seasonal vegetables are grown in the allotment area. Lower House Garden Opening

On Saturday 17th June 2023 and Sunday 18th June 2023Lower House Garden will be opening from 1pm until 5pm for the NGS.  Lower House, Bowlhead Green, Godalming, Surrey, GU8 6NW.  Unusual rare trees and shrubs shape the layout of the garden creating many stunning vistas and quiet areas.  The sandy soil accommodates Azaleas, Rhododendrons, Camelias and Magnolias, followed by roses and herbaceous plants.  The white topiary garden and pond brings calm and the kitchen garden, greenhouses, and orchard add extra interest.  There will be a plant stall at this opening; for all the details, please click here.

Easton Lodge Garden Opening

Easton Lodge Garden will be opening from 11am until 5pm on Sunday 18th June 2023 to allow visitors to see the lovely late spring and early summer flowers in their gardens.  Easton Lodge, Little Easton, Dunmow, Essex, CM6 2BD.  This opening gives visitors the opportunity to learn about the nature in the Gardens, with local naturalist Jono Forgham on hand with his bug hunts. There will be a range of stalls.  Volunteers will provide locally sourced bacon, cheese or hummus rolls; homemade cakes; and hot and cold drinks until they run out – or till 4.00pm. Godinton House Gardens Celebrate Delphiniums!

On Sunday 18th June 2023Godinton House Gardens will be celebrating Delphiniums with the Delphinium Society!  The gardens will be opening from 1pm until 6pm at Godinton House, Godinton Lane, Ashford, Kent, TN23 3BP.  A celebration of the fabulous Delphinium collection in the Walled Garden. The Delphinium Society will offer expert advice; the Delphinium Society will have delphiniums for sale 1pm until 4pm. Godinton House owns 12 acres of gardens that feature herbaceous borders, a rose garden, a formal lily pond, an intimate Italian garden, and large walled garden with delphiniums, a potager and cut flowers. 2 Cedar Avenue Garden Opening

On Sunday 18th June 2023, the garden at 2 Cedar Avenue will be opening from 11am until 4pm for the NGS at 2 Cedar Avenue, Wickford, Essex, SS12 9DT. Directions: Off Nevendon Road, 5 mins from Wickford High Street. From Basildon on A132 turn 1st right onto Nevendon Road at BP roundabout, right onto Park Drive, 2nd right Cedar Ave. A large town garden with a dry front garden and tropical style planting. Collections of hostas, succulents, carnivorous plants, alpines, hardy bromeliads and coleus will be on display outdoors and inside greenhouses. Areas for wildlife and a pond.

Terstan Gardens Opening

On Sunday 19th June 2023 Terstan Gardens will be opening from 2pm until 5pm for the NGS at Terstan, Longstock, Stockbridge, Hampshire, SO20 6DW. Directions: ¾m N of Stockbridge. From Stockbridge (A30) turn N to Longstock at bridge. Garden ¾m on right. Visitors can admire Terstan garden’s tulips and spring flowers at this opening.

Tanglefoot Garden Opening

Tanglefoot Garden Opening & Plant Sale is from 2pm until 5.30pm on Sunday 18th June 2023 for the NGS at Tanglefoot, Crawley, Winchester, Hampshire, SO21 2QB. Directions: 5m NW of Winchester. Between B3049 (Winchester – Stockbridge) & A272 (Winchester – Andover). Lane beside Crawley Court (Arqiva). For SatNav use SO21 2QA. Parking in adjacent mown field. Tanglefoot’s half acre garden features a Monet-inspired rose arch, a small wildlife pond, a Victorian boundary wall with trained fruit trees. Highlights include a raised lily pond, herbaceous plants, a herb wheel, a large productive kitchen garden and unusual flowering plants. In contrast to the garden, a two acre field with views over the Hampshire countryside has been converted into walk-through spring and summer wildflower meadows with mostly native trees and shrubs.

Ashley Court Gardens Opening

Ashley Court Gardens will be opening from 12.30pm until 4.30pm on Saturday 17th June 2023 for the NGS at Ashley Court, Ashley, Tiverton, Devon, EX16 5PD. There will be a plant stall at this opening. Ashley Court is a small Regency country house with an historical walled kitchen garden (currently undergoing restoration) and remains of several glasshouses. This garden is situated in a deep valley. Visitors can view the apple loft, root stores, and stable buildings, and take a woodland walk and admire this garden’s lawns, borders, and beautiful mature trees.
