Daphne bholua ‘Jacqueline Postill’ needs a moist but well-drained soil. I have grown this plant in a free-draining silty, sandy soil but I took care to apply a mulch of homemade compost around the plant three times a year. I always apply mulches in late winter or early spring after heavy rain and then add additional mulches following periods of inclement weather, at regular intervals later in the year.
