On Sunday 8th February 2026, the house and garden of Chawton House, Chawton, Alton, Hampshire, GU34 1SJ, are opening from 10am until 4pm. This is a lovely opportunity for visitors to see the snowdrops in the gardens of Jane Austen’s home. Spot the snowdrops on the South Lawn and through the Wilderness, explore the Walled Garden, and enjoy refreshments in the Old Kitchen Tearoom. Throughout the day Chawton House will be running events for all the family, included in the price of admission. In the Library, see a special display of the best snowdrops in Chawton House’s collection of rare botanical works by women. In the Garden, at 12pm, join a member of the Gardening team for a guided snowdrop walk. Meet by the steps to the main entrance just before midday. For the Kids: follow our Spring Flowers garden trail, and enjoy arts & crafts in the House. All activities in the House are included in a House & Gardens Day Ticket.
