Orchid Society of Great Britain in person & Zoom Meeting: A Walk on the Wild Side at the Foot of Africa: a talk by Hendrelien Peters

Date: Saturday 9 May 2026

On Saturday 9th May 2026, the Orchid Society of Great Britain are hosting a Zoom (starts at 2pm on Zoom) and in-person at Twickenham, Cole Court, 150 London Road, Twickenham, London, TW1 1HD. Doors open at 1pm. There are over 480 indigenous orchids of South Africa. The orchids cover the whole colour spectrum from intense reds through to the palest colours, with almost translucent forms; from large two metre tall plants to tiny 5 cm plants; with flowers resembling little brown balls, sea anemones with tendrils floating in the breeze, tiny little hooked spiders crawling on a stem, google-eyed martians or overgrown eyebrows – just a few descriptions of the vast array of orchids found in South Africa. Hendrelien will take us on a short journey, discovering their beauty and uniqueness. To become a member of the Orchid Society of Great Britain, please click here.
