Hull: Avenues Open Gardens

Date: Sunday 28 June 2026

Hull: Avenues Open Gardens is from 1pm until 5pm on Sunday 28th June 2026 and Sunday 5th July 2026 (two separate days), when approximately 35 private gardens will open in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, HU5 3JX. Every year since 1976 residents of the conservation area known as the Avenues open their gardens to the public to raise money for charity. A huge number of gardens are opening with a massive diversity of gardening styles, complimented by interesting and unique local Victorian and Edwardian architecture. The gardens vary in size, many are large with some extending to 150 feet. There will be an open allotment and you can visit a community wildlife garden, which is managed by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. Mainly built between 1875 and World War I, the Avenues were given conservation area status, due to the unique features of the area and distinctive architecture and gardens. Teas, cakes, and art on show, music, and other community events are held over these two weekends that celebrate this distinctive community in Hull. Proceeds to Dove House Hospice and other good causes. Plant sales at many gardens and from Mires Beck Nursery. Tickets: £5 per adult, accompanied children free. Tickets provide access to all gardens on both Sundays. Programmes available from participating gardens on the day and at various outlets in advance.
