Avon Wildlife Trust Online Talk: Orchard – A Year in England’s Eden with Nick Gates

Date: Friday 11 March 2022

Friday 11th March 2022 from 7.30pm until 9pm GMT.

The orchard has been a traditional component of the British landscape for many centuries; however, subsidies have led to the destruction of older traditional orchards to make way for more intensive farming and now only a fraction of our orchids remain. The value of these orchards for wildlife has long been underestimated. Nick, a naturalist, producer, vlogger and writer based in the Bristol area, and his associate, Ben Macdonald spent years visiting a traditional orchard across all seasons observing its imperilled and overlooked abundance of life.  Find out more about this project and their award winning book at Nick’s talk.  A suggested minimum donation of £3 per person watching would be appreciated. All profits help Avon Wildlife Trust with their work locally.  The talk will be recorded and the recording made available to participants afterwards.  For all the details and to book your place, please click here.
