Buglife Online Talk: Gardening for Bees with Brigit Strawbridge

Date: Thursday 17 February 2022

Thursday 17th February 2022 from 6pm until 7.30pm.

Join Buglife and Brigit Strawbridge to find out how you can help pollinators in your own back garden!

We all know how important it is to “grow flowers for bees”, but which flowers suit which bees, and how can we make our gardens more attractive to a wider, and more diverse, range of pollinating insects?

In this session Brigit will discuss relationships between pollinators and flowering plants; explain why it is important to provide habitats for nesting and hibernating, as well as nectar and pollen rich plants; and talk a little about bees’ life-cycles and mating behaviour. She will also introduce us to some of her favourite garden bee species.

Brigit Strawbridge Howard is a wildlife gardener, amateur naturalist, and advocate of bees. Based in Cornwall, she writes and campaigns to raise awareness of the importance and diversity of native wild bees and other pollinating insects. She is author of Dancing with Bees: A Journey Back to Nature.
