Wilder Churches: Welcoming new communities to help wildlife in churchyards, other church land and burial grounds

Date: Tuesday 26 April 2022

Tuesday 26th April 2022 from 7pm until 8.30pm BST.

Wilder Churches is a partnership between the Diocese of Bath and Wells and Somerset Wildlife Trust.  Over the last year through an ongoing programme of free online training, communities across Somerset have been supported to get to know the wildlife in their local churchyard, other church land or burial ground and work together to find ways to increase the value of these special places for wildlife.

To help nature recover, we need more people to take action for nature and we want to support them at each step along the way. This dedicated event is aimed at anyone interested in managing churchyards or any other faith-associated space with wildlife in mind. Pippa Rayner, Somerset Wildlife Trust’s Engaging with Nature Coordinator, will introduce Wilder Churches, what it is all about, what has been happening and how you can get involved in your community.

Sara Emmett, Interim Diocesan Environment Officer from the Diocese of Bath and Wells will also speak about why taking action for wildlife is important to the Diocese and be on hand to answer any questions.  Everyone is welcome, so please join us on what we hope will be the start of your journey towards helping your local churchyard or burial ground wilder.  For all the details and to book your place, please click here.
