Dalemain Harvest Fair

Date: Sunday 15 September 2024

The Dalemain Harvest Fair will be held on Sunday 15th September 2024 from 10am until 4pm at Dalemain House and Gardens, Penrith, Cumbria, CA11 0HB.  Dalemain will be celebrating all things Autumnal with a traditional celebration of the harvest, offering visitors a chance to explore the importance of the Harvest at Dalemain and in Cumbria through the centuries.  There will be lectures, activities and guided tours, to be enjoyed by everyone from families to gardening experts.

There will be ‘heavy’ shire horses in the historic courtyard, alongside produce stands and apple juicing with North Lakes Orchard Group. Visitors should bring clean apples (hand picked and washed, not rotten) and a container for their juice. Herbs and apples have been harvested from the gardens and will be served as part of our delicious Autumnal menu in the Mediaeval Hall Tearoom. You can even make a paper flowerpot and plant an acorn – a tree for the future!

There will be a fantastic range of tours and talks on offer: learn all about the range of ancient apple trees at Dalemain – including the Dalemain Gloriana! Find out what hops were harvested here and what beers were made, and take a trip around the Agricultural Barn museum, with farm machinery dating back hundreds of years and a special Fell Pony Museum.  The Mansion will be open with tours, and you can take a tour of the Dalemain historic gardens, which will be full of colour. Enjoy a peaceful visit to the tranquil Low Gardens, with the trickling Dacre beck.  For all the details, please click here.
