Seedy Saturday Northampton

Date: Saturday 10 February 2024

Seedy Saturday Northampton is from 10am until 2pm on Saturday 10th February 2024 at The Doddridge Centre (opposite Church’s Shoes factory), Jimmy’s End, Northampton, Northamptonshire, NN5 5LD. Seedy Saturday is a community seed swap held in Northampton, UK. Each February, a vibrant community of local gardeners and growers of all ages and abilities come together to share the seeds they’ve grown and saved themselves. How does it work? Bring your spare seeds to the swap table and exchange them pack-for-pack for seeds you’d like to grow. If you’ve no seeds to swap, don’t worry; you can take seeds for a donation of at least 50p per pack. What to bring: •non-hybrid seeds you have grown and harvested yourself (though see below); and •unopened packets of shop-bought seeds that are in-date or less than one year out-of-date. What to leave at home: •seeds from produce you haven’t grown yourself (eg; supermarket-bought fruit and vegetables); •shop-bought seeds that are more than one year out-of-date and home-grown seeds that are more than one year old; •seeds that have been stored in hot or damp conditions (eg; in a greenhouse or shed); •seeds that are unpackaged, unlabelled or undated; •seeds that may have been cross-pollinated; seeds from diseased or unhealthy plants; •seeds of patented or genetically modified organisms (GMOs); •seeds of anything that is illegal, restricted or regulated by UK law (eg; cannabis, invasive weeds etc). Pack your home-grown seeds into envelopes or bags and label them with the plant name (common or Latin), the variety name and the place and the year of harvesting – for example; “Tomato: Gardeners Delight, grown in Brixworth 2021”. Securely seal the package. For more information, please click here.
