Orchid Society of Great Britain Talk: The history of trade of Colombian Orchids in the UK during the 19th Century by Camilo Uribe Botta

On Saturday 4th May 2024, the Orchid Society of Great Britain are holding this meeting in the small room at Cole Court, 150 London Road, Twickenham, London, TW1 1HD. Doors open at 1.15pm, meeting starts at 2.30pm. Colombia is the richest country in the world in orchids, with more than 4,270 species! The national flower, Cattleya trianae, symbolises the beauty and richness of Colombian biodiversity. In this presentation, Camilo Uribe Botta will talk about the story behind the success of Colombian orchids during the 19th century. It is a rich and complex story of speculation, danger, and success.
