Bolbitis heteroclita ‘Difformis’

Family: Lomariopsidaceae

Countries: Africa, Asia, Philippines

Bolbitis heteroclita ‘Difformis’ is miniature fern that can be grown both as a terrarium plant and as an aquarium plant.  This fern can be used a part of an aquascape planting, where it will slowly form low feathery carpets of green to cover the sides of your tank.  Alternatively, Bolbitis heteroclita ‘Difformis’ can grow as a submerged plant, underwater.  This is a useful miniature, low-growing fern, with dark-green, finely-cut fronds that remind me a little of parsley.

Bolbitis heteroclita ‘Difformis’ originates from the Philippines,

This fern thrives in indirect light and will happily grow in the shade of other plants.  Bolbitis heteroclita ‘Difformis’ grows to a maximum height of around 15cm (6 inches) tall.  Grow Bolbitis heteroclita ‘Difformis’ mounted onto a piece of wood, stone, or lava rock, inside a terrarium, vivarium, aquarium, or as part of an aquascape.  If you plan to use Bolbitis heteroclita ‘Difformis’ as a terrarium or vivarium plant, you must ensure that you provide your fern with an environment that’s always very humid.  This is a fern that flourishes in warm conditions of 18C (65F) to 27C (80F).
