Hosta ‘Ruffled Pole Mouse’

Family: Asparagaceae

Hosta ‘Ruffled Pole Mouse’ is another Hosta from the Blue Mouse Ears Series.  This new cultivar is a sport of Hosta ‘Green Mouse Ears’, which was first grown and propagated by Jan van den Top, in the Netherlands.  Hosta ‘Ruffled Pole Mouse’ is an attractive, miniature sized Hosta, with attractive, creamy, ivory-white coloured leaves, which are outlined and enhanced by mid to dark green margins.  This diminutive Hosta produces leaves that feature a marked ruffled, wavy habit.

Hosta ‘Ruffled Pole Mouse’ flowers in June and July; the plants produce pretty, lavender coloured flowers, which are held slightly shyly above the plant’s leaves.  This is a miniature sized Hosta, which grows to around 10cm (4inches) tall and about 8cm-13cm (3-5inches) wide.  Plant in moist, well-drained soil, in partial shade, or alternatively grow Hosta ‘Ruffled Pole Mouse’ in containers, using peat-free compost.  Hostas make very attractive and successful container plants, when grown using a good quality, peat free compost.  Ensure that your plants are grown in a partially shaded spot.

Hosta ‘Ruffled Pole Mouse’ was first launched to the UK market, at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2019, by Hogarth Hostas.
