Nephrolepis exaltata ‘Marisa’

Family: Lomariopsidaceae

Countries: Central America, North America

Nephrolepis exaltata ‘Marisa’ is a fabulous little fern, which makes a great terrarium, bottle garden, or vivarium plant.  Nephrolepis exaltata ‘Marisa’ can also be grown as a beautiful container plant, or planted in a hanging basket, just take care to ensure that you grow this diminutive little fern in a warm, humid environment – such as a bathroom, greenhouse, or conservatory.

Nephrolepis exaltata ‘Marisa’ is a tender fern, which is killed by frost and low temperatures.    Nephrolepis exaltata ‘Marisa’ should be grown in an environment where the minimum night time winter temperature never falls below 13C (55F).  Nephrolepis exaltata ‘Marisa’ thrives in high humidity and loves to grow in a partially-shaded location that’s bathed in indirect light.

Nephrolepis exaltata ‘Marisa’ produces fascinating fronds, they are so finely and intricately cut, which gives this fern a charming and somewhat lace-like appearance.  I am head over heels in love with Nephrolepis exaltata ‘Marisa’!  This is a truly endearing fern, which produces new fronds with a quite tufted growth habit.
