Pilea involucrata ‘Moon Valley’

Family: Urticaceae

Countries: Central America, South America

Pilea involucrata ‘Moon Valley’ is an upright-growing and naturally bushy plant, which features characteristically blistered leaves that almost resemble the surface of the moon.  I adore Pilea involucrata ‘Moon Valley’ – it’s such a gorgeous plant!  This is a fast-growing plant, which is resilient and easy to grow.

Pilea involucrata ‘Moon Valley’ is a super terrarium, vivarium, or bottle garden plant that thrives in humid and partially shaded growing conditions.  Plants will be happy growing in partial shade, semi-shade, and bright but indirect light.  Keep your Pilea involucrata ‘Moon Valley’ plant away from harsh or direct light which could scorch or damage your plant’s leaves.

If you plan to use Pilea involucrata ‘Moon Valley’ in your terrarium or bottle garden, ensure that your plant is away from exterior doors and windows that might be opened during autumn, winter, and springtime.  Position your Pilea involucrata ‘Moon Valley’ plants away from extremes of temperature – avoid cold draughts, radiators, stoves or anything that will dry or cool the air.  These plants favour moist, but well-drained soil or peat-free compost.  Pilea involucrata ‘Moon Valley’ will flourish in a very humid environment.

This is a tender plant that will be killed by low temperatures.  Ensure your Pilea involucrata ‘Moon Valley’ plant isn’t exposed to temperatures below 15C (60F).
