Rhododendron Happydendron ‘Pushy Purple’ (‘Hachmagic’) is a new Rhododendron that was launched at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2019, by Millais Nurseries. This new Rhododendron made a very positive impression at the show, being selected as one of the top twenty finalists in the prestigious RHS Chelsea Plant of the Year 2019 Competition.
Rhododendron Happydendron ‘Pushy Purple’ was bred by Holger Hachmann, in Germany. This is a very distinctive Rhododendron, producing these large ivory coloured flowers with an attractive maroon-purple picotee edging. Plants will grow to around 125-150cm (4-5ft) in 10 years.
Plant Rhododendron Happydendron ‘Pushy Purple’ where your plant can enjoy dappled shade and its roots will benefit from growing in moist, well drained, acid soil. If you don’t have acid soil, don’t forget that this Rhododendron will grow happily in a large sized container, filled with peat free ericaceous compost.
