Rhododendron ‘Jessica de Rothschild’ was first launched at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2019, by Millais Nurseries.  However, this plant was actually bred at Exbury Gardens, back in 1966.

David Millais, from Millais Nurseries, in Farnham, identified Rhododendron ‘Jessica de Rothschild’ as being a good garden plant that has stood the test of time.  Accordingly, Millais Nurseries worked to propagate sufficient plants of Rhododendron ‘Jessica de Rothschild’, to enable the plant to be launched at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2019.  Plants are offered for sale via Millais Nurseries’ online shop, or from their nursery, in Churt, near Farnham, in Surrey.

David Millais has praised Rhododendron ‘Jessica de Rothschild’ for being a compact and floriferous plant.  Like other Rhododendrons, Rhododendron ‘Jessica de Rothschild’ thrives when planted in acid soil, or ericaceous compost, in dappled shade.  If you have alkaline soil, don’t forget that this Rhododendron can be grown in a container with peat free, ericaceous compost.
