Rosa ‘Gertrude Jekyll’ (Ausbord) is a very popular rose and deservedly so.  I am more than a little in love with this delightful rose and its beautiful perfume!   Rosa ‘Gertrude Jekyll’ is an English Shrub Rose, which was bred by David Austin and introduced at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, back in 1986.

This is a medium sized rose.  Eventually, Rosa ‘Gertrude Jekyll’ will form a shrub of about 1m (3ft) tall and the same wide, perhaps a little larger if you have a richer soil.  Plant Rosa ‘Gertrude Jekyll’ where your plant will be able to enjoy growing in any moist, well drained soil.  Ensure that your rose can bask in full sunshine or partial shade.

If you have a smaller garden than you would like, you might be happy to know that you can grow Rosa ‘Gertrude Jekyll’ in a large container.  Choose a container with a drainage hole, so as to allow water to escape when watering, or when it rains.  Ensure your rose’s container is about 50cm (20inch) tall and 50cm (20inch) in diameter, and use a good quality, peat-free compost.
