Rosa ‘Lady of Shallot’ (Ausnyson) is an English Shrub Rose that was bred by David Austin and introduced in 2009, at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. This rose produces warm orange coloured, double blooms that almost seem to glow in the sunlight. The ‘Lady of Shallot’ is a fragrant rose, with flowers that are accessible to bees, hoverflies, and other insects.
Plant Rosa ‘Lady of Shallot’ in any moist but well-drained soil, or in a large container, filled with a good quality, peat-free compost, mixed with loam. Choose a bright and sunny, or a partially shaded position, to plant your ‘Lady of Shallot’ rose. This is a strong and robust rose that copes with poor soil and a degree of shade. However, the best plants are grown in a nutrient rich soil or a top quality peat-free compost, in a location that’s bright and sunny.
The Royal Horticultural Society awarded Rosa ‘Lady of Shallot’ an Award of Garden Merit, for excellent performance in appropriate growing conditions, without any special care or attention.
