Verbascum ‘Merlin’

Family: Scrophulariaceae

Verbascum ‘Merlin’ is a super plant!  This hardy perennial is drought resistant, these plants simply flourish in light, sandy soils.  If you have moist, fertile soil, you will probably need to provide some support to your plants, (ideally early on in the growing season) but if your soil is poor, your plants will be much sturdier, and probably won’t need any support or assistance.

Like most Verbascums, Verbascum ‘Merlin’ flowers are very attractive to bees and butterflies.  In the summertime, Verbascum ‘Merlin’ produces spires of dusky, pale pink-mauve flowers that grow to around 1m (3.3ft) tall, depending of course on your soil type and the growing conditions your plant experiences.

Verbascum ‘Merlin’ plants can be propagated from root cuttings; the ideal time to take Verbascum root cuttings is from September to March.
