Butterfly Conservation’s Big Butterfly Count 2020

I adore spending time immersed in nature, studying plants and butterflies.  Today I wanted to tell you about the Big Butterfly Counts I’ve taken at Bookham Common, in Surrey.

Butterfly Conservation’s Big Butterfly Count runs from Friday the 17th July 2020 until Sunday 9th August 2020 – so you still have plenty of time to join in and enjoy taking your own Butterfly Count!

Disabled Access Day 2019

I believe in equality.  I am a huge supporter of Disabled Access Day.  I believe in the importance of ensuring good quality and safe disabled access to gardens, parks, and outdoor and indoor attractions, and in creating safe and welcoming environments that are open to all visitors, whatever their disability or restriction.  Disabled Access Day 2019 allows disabled visitors the chance to experience a garden, attraction, or another place that’s open to the public, without charge.

The Victoria Garden, Farnham

There’s something quite magical about a secret garden!  Did you know that Farnham has its own secret garden hidden away in the town centre?  If you venture towards the back of Sainsbury’s car park in South Street, you’ll have the chance to discover the Victoria Garden for yourself.  A beautifully serene, sheltered and enclosed garden awaits you, a place where you can escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Super gardens to visit in Surrey this spring!

April is such a magical time of year!  It’s quite simply awe inspiring to see the landscape being painted by mother nature in every beautiful shade of green, as more leaves unfurl and the view becomes ever greener each day.  I love to be outside, surrounded by the birds singing and bees buzzing.

Daffodils are such cheerful flowers, heralding the start of springtime, they are a joy to behold.  There are many different varieties of daffodils, so consequently you can find daffodils flowering from as early as December until late May, and beyond in cooler areas of the country.  Which is wonderful, as it provides us with plenty of time to enjoy and appreciate the daffodil’s beauty!

The Heritage Open Days are four very special days of the year, where you can experience local history, culture, and architecture, and visit special places which are normally closed to the public, as well as enjoying free entry to places that charge an admission fee.

The 2017 Heritage Open Days will be held from Thursday 7th September 2017 to  Sunday 10th September 2017.

Disabled Access Day began in 2015.  The idea behind this event was to create a special day to celebrate the attractions, gardens, and other days and evenings out, that offer great accessibility for disabled visitors.

The attractions participating in Disabled Access Day 2017, could feature carefully and considerately thought out and planned, level access for disabled visitors, over smooth, wide paths, that are easy to access for visitors, whether they are using a wheelchair or walking on foot, making the garden or attraction a pleasure to visit for disabled visitors who find walking difficult.
