At the RHS Chelsea Flower Show every single show garden, in every category has the opportunity to win a Gold Medal.  There are no limitations on the number of Gold, Silver-Gilt, Silver, or Bronze medals that the judges can award, nor is there a requirement for any medal to be awarded – if none of the gardens are of Gold Medal standard, then no Gold Medals will be presented.

The Morgan Stanley Garden for Great Ormond Street Hospital was designed by Chris Beardshaw.  This garden was awarded a Gold Medal by the RHS judges at The RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2016.  I caught up with Chris Beardshaw, at The RHS Chelsea Flower Show, to find out more about this special garden.

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show Plant Of The Year Award

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show Plant Of The Year Award was first awarded in 2010 to celebrate and recognise the exciting and diverse range of new plants launched at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Chelsea Flower Show each year.  Every year, for the past six years, exhibitors at Chelsea are invited to submit their new plant introductions for consideration and assessment by the RHS Plant Committees, the RHS Director of Horticulture and the RHS Garden Curators.
